Christian Andersen’s film is set in 1981 in a small Danish fishing town. The newly built and supposedly unsinkable lifeboat RF2 goes down during one of its first missions. Nine people die as a result of this unfortunate incident. The responsibility for the tragic accident is pinned on the captain of the boat. His son Henrik decides to start an investigation into the vague and controversial case, wanting to find out what really happened. However, he encounters resistance from the local fishermen, who fear the possible loss of their jobs, as well as the authorities, who want to avoid a bigger scandal at all costs. The catastrophe also takes its toll on Henrik’s bereaved family, and the relationships between its members are put to a serious test. A story about trying to get to the truth at all costs, Unsinkable, which has been nominated for five Danish film awards, is inspired by true events.
