It’s the middle of summer. Five young actresses head out to spend a few days at a picturesque country house, but it isn’t just for pleasure: they’re preparing to stage a new play. Their time together is meant to allow them to dive deeper into their roles and start to experience the dynamics within the group. In beautiful natural surroundings, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, they dress up in elegant period costumes, talk about the characters they’re creating, and share personal secrets. Work mixes with private life, but on both levels you can feel the female energy, mutual care and sense of solidarity. In her debut feature, Spanish director Itsaso Arana also plays one of the main roles; she has said that her film is first and foremost a story of friendship and reconciliation between women. It’s born from the boldness, courage, defiance, and mutual admiration of the group of actresses we see on screen.
