2022 / 120 min / color

Xawery Żuławski’s new film is centered on a group of high school grads getting ready for the party of a lifetime. The setting is exceptional — a seaside villa that belongs to one of their parents — and it’s finally a chance to decompress after the long pandemic lockdown. Despite alarmingly high levels of cyanobacteria in the Baltic Sea and strange cases of infections, everything goes according to plan at first — the beach, dancing, alcohol, the thrill of first love, romantic disappointments. But eventually a series of unexpected events cause the party to start getting out of hand. And when there’s a zombie outbreak, all the kids can do is fight desperately for their lives. Xawery Żuławski’s film was one of the most widely discussed selections of the last Gdynia festival. This explosive mix of zombie horror, coming of age story and comedy is not only an entertaining film, but also a thought-provoking one, thanks to its strong environmentalist message.
